Michael Milken-Philanthropic Career

The Milken Family Foundation was established by brothers Lowell and Michael Milken in 1982. Its mission is to discover and advance inventive, effective methods of helping people help themselves - and those around them - to lead productive and satisfying lives. Some of the Foundation's major programs and activities include:

Mike celebrates with Milken Educator Award winner Samta Khanna (photo on left) at a Milken Family Foundation National Education Conference. Khanna, an elementary-school teacher in West Palm Beach, Florida, has a master's degree in education and has been teaching for more than 10 years. While in her native Calcutta, Khanna did volunteer work with Mother Theresa on many occasions. She is one of more than 2,400 public-school educators honored by the Milken Family Foundation since 1987. Mike (photo on right) has been teaching math skills to public school students for more than 20 years through Mike's Math Club.

The Help Group

In Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley, The Help Group is California's largest private institution serving children with special needs. Mike has taught classes and worked with kids there for more than 15 years.
