In pre-game ceremonies at "The House that Ruth Built," Yankee Stadium, Mike was joined by (left to right) Robin Ventura, Terry Steinbach, Yankees manager Joe Torre, Hall of Famer Tommy Lasorda and Jason Giambi to promote prostate cancer research during the Prostate Cancer Foundation's 2003 Home Run Challenge, which raises money to develop better treatments and find a cure for prostate cancer. With support from Major League teams, players, managers and their coaching staffs, and umpires, fans nationwide pledge from $1 to more than $5,000 for each home run hit in 60 selected games, played from June 7 to 15.
