"Wow!" was the first word out of Dr. John Read's mouth in thanking Mike for what Dr. Read called his "tour de force" speech to the Alberta Mental Health Board's annual Research Showcase in Banff, Alberta. Mike told the assemblage of psychiatrists, psychologists and other mental health professionals from across Canada that medical research can be accelerated by using such strategies as recruiting talented young researchers, increasing international collaboration and taking a venture approach to identifying potential research programs.
