Mike moderated a free-wheeling discussion of energy security issues with T. Boone Pickens and Ted Turner at the 2010 Global Conference. Mike noted that every U.S. president since Richard Nixon has advocated energy independence, yet U.S. importing of oil has risen from 35% in 1974 to more than 66% in 2010. Pickens said natural gas has tremendous potential to offset foreign imports; Turner agreed, adding federal incentives for wind and solar power should be increased. Watch their Global Conference panel.
