Bradley Abel, a 9th-grade history teacher at John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights, Illinois, introduces Mike to his students after "Mr. Abel" was notified in a surprise all-school assembly that he was being given a Milken Educator Award. Abel, a third-generation teacher in his family, helped develop the AP human geography curriculum and has led his students to a stunning 100-percent pass rate on the AP exam. He also coaches the girls’ soccer team and is actively involved in the "Service Over Self" community program. The Milken Family Foundation has awarded thousands of Educator Awards to public-school educators across America; each award includes a $25,000 check and an invitation to the annual Milken Educator Forum.
