Mike and Ross DeVol, the Milken Institute's Chief Research Officer, held a Congressional Briefing at the Russell Senate Building in February to discuss a new Institute report, Best Performing Cities 2012, which ranks U.S. cities on their ability to develop dynamic economies that create high-quality, high-paying jobs (Sunnyvale, Calif. Austin and Raleigh were the top 3 cities last year). Among other topics, Mike explained his views on prosperity, the importance of investing in early childhood education, providing early-stage capital to minority and female entrepreneurs and the crucial role of social capital in building cohesive communities.
