When he was a senior in 1963 at Birmingham High School, Mike was presented with the Encino Junior Chamber of Commerce's first Outstanding Young Man Award for "proven effective leadership, outstanding service rendered to school and community, acceptable academic achievement and desire for continued leadership and service."
