Mike at the Shadow Creek Invitational tennis tournament to benefit the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF). When the PCF was founded in 1993, annual U.S. prostate cancer deaths were expected to increase in future years because the population most at risk — men over 50 — would increase as baby boomers aged. Yet a February 2002 New York Times article said "The National Cancer Institute last year documented a 'dramatic decline' in the prostate cancer death rate per 100,000 men ages 50 and older since 1992; before 1992, the rate had been rising steadily."
