In a commencement speech, Mike told graduates of the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University that "now is your time" to change the world. Whereas the 20th century was marked by advances in physics, chemistry or biology, Mike said progress in the 21st century will be led by public health improvements and medical research. As part of the graduation week, Mike and Lori were honored by George Washington University on the heels of the
Milken Institute's $40 million contribution to support new and ongoing research and scholarships at the School of Public Health. The
Milken Family Foundation also contributed $10 million to support the school's dean's office, including a newly created public health scholarship program; and the Sumner M. Redstone Charitable Foundation contributed $30 million to create the Sumner M. Redstone Global Center for Prevention and Wellness.
